Dining Room
We’ve tried to create the dining room into a really special place. With its darker décor it’s a place that comes alive in the evening, and nothing beats it for that really special occasion and to show off your catering skills. For parties & dinners turn on the fairy lights, light the fire and the candles and the whole place will come alive. We have provided candles, holders and a silver tureen, plus all the cutlery, crockery and glassware you need. Everything to make your dinner parties in Hay a great success.
We have a piano, which means you are fully equipped for an old fashioned knees up. The large long dining table, seating 10, is made of reclaimed Zimbabwean railway sleepers cut from hard red teak in the less environmentally conscious days of the early 1900s. Before the advent of concrete, only the heaviest and hardest of woods would stop the entire track system from being eaten by ants. You won’t be able to move it without quite a bit of help.
If you have enough helping hands and for later nights, you can shift the table to one side and use this room for dancing. We have had decks and speakers set up here before, and there’s nothing to stop you going all night. With the exception of The Globe, Hay doesn’t yet have many late night venues. You might as well create your own?
