Bedrooms & Bathrooms
First Floor Bedrooms
Two double rooms face out to the front with plenty of storage space. The first is dual aspect and has pleasant views to the Welsh hills ahead and the town of Hay to the side. This room has a cot and a wash basin, but no en suite. This room has a 5 foot double bed. The second first floor room is bright and similarly spacious with a 5 foot antique French bed, and a view to the front of the house over the Welsh hills.
Both have access to the first floor bathroom and toilet. The room above has a washbasin and is dual aspect to the front of the house and a paddock to the side.
The third bedroom on the first floor is fairly small but charming, with a 4 foot brass Victorian bed. Our guess is that this was originally the rector’s study, though with the advent of internal plumbing it’s been converted into a luscious and light bathroom the opulence of which he would probably have never approved. We started to repaint the room, but then decided we liked the look of the natural plaster. Light up the candles and luxuriate in the free standing bath. If you need musical accompaniment there’s enough room in there for a small string quartet or chamber orchestra.
Second Floor Bedrooms
The “master bedroom,” so called because it has the en suite bathroom and shower, is a large top floor double room facing the front of the house. It’s a lovely quiet room where you can escape from the rest of the house, and its furniture is French antique.
Second Floor Double Room
Also on the second floor is a twin bedroom, ideal for children. If the occupants of the master bedroom aren’t co-operative, this room has the longest walk to the bathroom.
